SEMESTER 1
1) English Language 1
This module covers grammar, reading, writing, and interaction which are integrated effectively. Thus, the course aims to builds upon and expand the proficiency of the students from their previous level, to equip them with the skills and knowledge of English to be used in academic writing.
2) ICT Skills
The aim of this module is to equip students with the fundamental knowledge of Information technology and its applications.
3) Personal Development and Leadership
The aim of this module is to prepare a smooth transition from secondary school level of learning towards a tertiary level of learning. Through this module, students will be equipped with the necessary academic skills, leadership, professional grooming, and attitudes to cope with learning and assessments at a tertiary level, to prepare for a career in hospitality and other service industry.
4) Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship
Students will be provided sufficient information that they are able to develop an understanding of the importance of entrepreneurship in society and the different forms of entrepreneurial activity.
5) Principles of Management
The course covers a strategic analysis of the internal capabilities of the organization and the external factors affecting the organization and industry.
SEMESTER 2
1) English Language 2
This module covers the components required for IELTS examination preparation.
2) Introduction to Marketing Principles
To provide students with an understanding of marketing and its application in the international arena and the ways in which marketing strategies and approaches can be used to optimize product penetration.
3) Introduction to Economics
This module should enable students to differentiate between economics of the different industries. To be able to investigate the factors that determines the demand for and the supply of a service and the calculation of elasticity of demand and supply.
4) Basic Accounting and Finance
This module will give students the knowledge, skills and techniques that will help with the management decision making process. It will look at the process and practices which take place within a business and at the analytical skills required to understand financial formation.
5) Introduction to Human Resources
The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of managing human resources in an organization. Aspects of leading and motivating individuals and teams, and the tasks managers face in managing a harmonious and balanced workforce, whilst trying to promote efficiency and effectiveness and competitive advantage are also covered.
